Giulia Dall’Olio

Milan Drawing Week

November 23rd – December 1st 2024

The fourth edition of Milan Drawing Week marks the beginning of a collaboration between Nashira Gallery and Galleria Studio G7 in Bologna, presenting an exhibition of works by Giulia Dall’Olio (1983, Bologna) in dialogue with a work of Emilio Scanavino (1922, Genoa – 1986, Milan) for Collezione Ramo, which curated and organized the event. With the aim of promoting and broadening the appreciation of drawing among a wider audience, Collezione Ramo has opened its doors to the city, creating a bridge between artists from diverse origins and generations.

Giulia Dall’Olio expresses her vision of nature through charcoal drawings on canvas and paper, a medium that allows her to continually reinterpret her work in response to the perceived changes in the environment.

Her resonance with Scanavino arises from a play of contrasts between black and white, fullness and emptiness, and from a symbolic mark-making that becomes a defining feature of their visual language. The black and white, nearly representing the dichotomy between the spirituality of being and the unbounded force of nature, symbolizes the interaction between the spiritual dimension and the lush vitality of nature, revealing what it holds that is unseen and metaphysical.
