Andrea Grotto

(Schio, 1989)

BIOGRAPHY

Andrea Grotto studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, where he graduated in Painting under Professor Carlo Di Raco, taking an active part in its vibrant artistic scene.

He has participated in numerous residencies and competitions in Italy and abroad, including the Bevilacqua La Masa Foundation Atelier in Venice, the Combat Prize, GlogauAir in Berlin, the Fabbri Prize, the Ora Prize, and the Michetti Prize. An exceptional painter and draftsman, Grotto employs a refined and sophisticated pictorial language to give form to an imaginary world suspended between reality and dream. His compositions both captivate and intrigue the viewer through a continuous oscillation between what is and what could be. In his paintings, elements drawn from nature—plants, minerals, and animals—merge with references to Greek statuary and to medieval and cosmological imagery, creating a seamless flow of images and thoughts.
