COMBAT PRIZE

16th edition

Giovanni Fattori Civic Museum Livorno

June 28 – July 12, 2025

Nashira Gallery is pleased to announce its participation in the 16th edition of the Combat Prize 2025, as one of the six galleries invited to join the jury for the assignment of the Special Prizes and the Gallery Prize.

Now a key event in the contemporary art scene, the Combat Prize was founded with the aim of promoting artistic research through an authentic and dynamic exchange — a true “cultural combat” that feels more necessary than ever in a time marked by deep uncertainty and transformation.

The 2025 edition featured the selection of 80 artworks divided into five categories – Painting, Graphics, Photography, Video-Performance, and Sculpture & Installation – alongside a group exhibition, the publication of a catalogue, cash prizes, and six special awards offered by both Italian and international galleries, in addition to a prize promoted by the company Poliart.

Each gallery, working independently from the official jury, selected one artist among the eighty finalists with the aim of developing either a site-specific exhibition project or a solo show to be realized during the 2025–2026 season.

The group exhibition of the finalists took place from June 28th to July 12th, 2025, across two iconic cultural venues in Livorno: the Giovanni Fattori Museum – Granaries of Villa Mimbelli, and the City Museum of Livorno. This dual location offered a multifaceted perspective on tradition and innovation, past and present.

The Combat Prize seeks to map out the most significant directions in contemporary art, offering the public an updated vision of evolving visual languages and capturing the most vital and yet-to-be-discovered creative energies of our time.

The award ceremony was held on Saturday, July 12th, in the evocative setting of the former Church of Luogo Pio, within the City Museum of Livorno, officially concluding this dynamic 16th edition.

Nashira Gallery has chosen to award the Gallery Prize to artist Besnik Lushtaku, a young German artist currently living and working in Venice, with whom the gallery is excited to begin a new collaboration for the upcoming exhibition season.
